A Zonal Level Workshop on “Nuclear Energy – Developments for Societal Benefits” was organized by ATME College of Engineering in association with Indian Nuclear Society (Mysuru Chapter) at ATME College of Engineering, Mysuru on Oct. 26, 2023. Sri D. Dhavamani, Senior Project Manager, BARC, Mysuru and Dr. S.K. Malhotra, Former Distinguished Scientist, BARC, Mumbai were the chief guest for the event. Sri D. Dhavamani was the keynote speaker and stressed upon the need for Nuclear Energy and their Applications. Senior officials of BARC too had attended the workshop.

There were totally 4 technical talks by experts from BARC scientists with the 1 st session by Dr. S.K. Malhotra, Former Distinguished Scientist, BARC, Mumbai on “Nuclear Power – The Need, The Public Perceptions and the Realities”, 2 nd talk by Shri. Joseph Thomas M, Officer-in-Charge, BARC, Mysuru on “Atoms in the Service of the Society”, 3 rd session by Shri. Madhusoodan Ojha, Scientific Officer, BARC, Mysuru on “Nuclear & Renewable Energies for Sustainable Development”, 4 th talk was by Smt. Mohini Gupta, Scientific Officer, BARC, Mysuru on “Carrier Opportunities in DAE”. The workshop was exclusively organized for the students and faculty members of various higher educational institutes across Mysuru and around 250 participated in the workshop which included students from Sarada Vilas First grade college, JSS College, Ooty Road, JSS College, Nanjangud, Jain University, Govt. first grade college, Mandya etc. A session specially on “Carrier Opportunities in DAE” was also held and the students got to know about the various routes by which one can get into DAE and serve the nation by their contribution in research and technology development. The event was convened by Dr. S. R. Bhagyashree, Professor and Dean-Research of ATMECE and Dr. Pavithra A.C., Prof. Madhusudhana R., and Prof. Priyanka N. B., Asst. Profs. Of ATMECE were the co-ordinators.
