Department of Science and Technology (DST), Science for Equity Empowerment and Development (SEED) Division, Government of India, has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 2.05Cr(Two crore rupees) to implement the project titled “Innovative ICT Enabled Co-Working Community Center Design for Rural Development”.
The proposed project will be established at ATME College of Engineering Mysuru. Through this project it is proposed to empower the youths belonging to scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe communities (ST) through the application of science technology and innovations (STI) hubs. The project aims at empowering the youths by providing co working community center.
The principal investigator of this project is Dr.Mahesh.P.K, professor and head Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, ATME College of Engineering Mysuru and Co-Investigator is Dr.Prakashkuravatti, Associate professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, ATME College of Engineering Mysuru.
The proposed project aims to increase the livelihood of the rural masses and also enhance the socioeconomic status of people of Mysore and nearby vicinity.The project provides innovative solutions for the community living on five STERM forces, namely Science research that generates new and or improved products, New emerging Technologies, New Engineering materials and designs from Government and Social Institutions in service chains, Regulations and policies with regard to infrastructure, trade, New Management techniques and business models such as out sourcing, sell direct, supply hubs, e-retail, telemedicine, are invented to enable growth.Through this project ATMECollege of Engineering will provide a technology enabled community space which is accessible to the local community of the region.
This proposed facility is intended to be internet enabled and will allow 24*7 accesses to the targeted beneficiaries. This STI Hub will be Technology enabled community center & will ensure sustainable rural livelihood promotion in tune to the particular societal requirements.
In addition to the above,facilities like room for cold storage, community-based skill development through online / offline mentoring, room for developing prototypes – translation of idea to products will be facilitated. The STI Hub will be a facility for the villagers to become technologically self-sufficient and solve the local community problems using the tools available in the Maker’sSpace.
The STI Hub will focus on the following streams of training like Advanced Sewing Machine Training Program, Skill Development Programme, Up-Skill Development programme, Training Program for Agri/Electronic Kit -to test/analyze/repair/fix and Resolve community problems. The overall objective of implementing this project is for the overall up liftment of the rural youth and society at large.
